Digitalization is a tool available to the world of wine and wine tourism as an opportunity for openness and growth. The Tommasi family has decided to embrace the trend. From any device, future guests can organize and book visits and tastings online at the historic estates in Valpolicella, Montalcino in Tuscany, and Barile in Basilicata. The Casisano and Paternoster wineries are new additions to the Tommasi Family Estate wine visits and tastings.
All this is possible thanks to the new Tommasi Wine Hospitality portal. The platform includes all of the Tommasi family’s hospitality venues: Villa Quaranta Tommasi Wine Hotel & Spa with the Borgo Antico restaurant and the Valpolicella thermal baths, the Mazzanti Hotel and the Caffè Dante Bistrot in the center of Verona; the Poggio al Tufo farmhouse in Pitigliano, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma.
“Hospitality has always been part of the DNA and history of the Tommasi family. Seeing visitors again in the cellars and at our accommodation facilities is a great satisfaction – explains Pierangelo Tommasi – A return and a rediscovery for Italian tourists (about 60%) and foreign tourists (40%), who mostly arrive from Europe. First are Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Scandinavia, and the United Kingdom. These are countries where consumers have known Tommasi wines for some time and who, finally, can return to visit the territories where the product comes to life. The new online portal stems from the desire to bring the public closer by creating easier access to all the different initiatives we organize at our estates.”
«We are delighted to witness a return to the same enthusiasm and the same numbers as 2019. If the current visitor trend continues, our forecast should allow us to close 2022 with significant growth. – continues Michela Tommasi – We are confident that this ferment will continue until the end of the year, thanks in part to the new portal that will allow us to offer better service and accurately monitor the flows and stays in our facilities.”
Each online proposal is designed to discover wine in all its facets, especially for wine enthusiasts or those new to the world of wine. The offerings range from tastings, cooking classes, and e-bike tours through Valpolicella vineyards at the Tommasi winery. “Spa & Wine” treatments are available, a real immersion into the grape as an ingredient for the well-being of body and mind, just like it happens at Terme della Valpolicella, the Thermal spa facility at Villa Quaranta.
“Villa Quaranta was the first Hospitality project, among the first in Italy for the trait union that it was able to create between hospitality and wine – explains Barbara Tommasi – it was the end of the 1980s when it was pioneering to talk about hospitality linked to wine. This business model has been a market benchmark that we are now extending to the other estates in Italy that we are proud to represent.”
Tommasi Family Estates speaks more and more of Italy.
Through the website, experiences at Casisano, the Tuscan estate in Montalcino, which recently opened to the public, and at Paternoster, in Vulture, the land of Aglianico, can also be booked.
The creation of the Tommasi Wine Hospitality portal was the natural result of the Tommasi family’s ongoing commitment to wine tourism, the perfect starting point to accompany wine lovers, customers, and those simply curious on a real journey into the world of Italian wine. To become increasingly responsive and digital was a challenge Tommasi took head-on to offer a service as tailored as possible for each customer.
TOMMASI FAMILY ESTATES
A family and a group that work for the present and the future of Italian wine. Tommasi represents the history of Valpolicella and beyond. With eight wine estates in seven regions – Tommasi in Veneto, Tenuta di Caseo in Lombardy, Casisano in Montalcino and Poggio al Tufo in Maremma Tuscany, Masseria Surani in Puglia, Paternoster in Basilicata, a project in Umbria ready in 2023, the acquisition of an estate on Etna in Sicily in 2022 and a partnership in Chianti Classico with La Massa – the group aims to create great wines, enhancing every single territory.
The picture is completed by the cultural and wine-growing project De Buris, linked to the Valpolicella Classica area, the recovery of Villa De Buris and the Amarone Classico DOC Riserva.
Four generations of pioneers, explorers, precursors and above all visionaries, attentive to the value of quality in every production phase, respectful of traditional procedures but open to experimentation. With the unique experience and knowledge cultivated and preserved over time, the Tommasi family intends to enhance each territory, binding itself to a path of sustainability and hospitality.
The care for hospitality is expressed through the structures of Villa Quaranta Wine Hotel & SPA in Valpolicella, Albergo Mazzanti and Caffè Dante Bistrot in Verona and Agriturismo Poggio al Tufo in Pitigliano, Maremma Tuscany.
