A long-standing family tradition, 780 hectares under vine in 7 Regions of Italy and wines that represent the outstanding quality that the nation produces; hospitality and wine tourism that puts people first; an eye always looking towards the future.
Tommasi is celebrating its anniversary with an exclusive collaboration with Seletti, one of the leading companies in Italian design.
120 years of history: the milestone reached by Tommasi Family Estates is an important one, which represents the success in producing outstanding wines of a family business that no longer belongs just to the Veneto , but to Italy as a whole. The company does indeed have its origins in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica zone in the hills of the Veneto, but over the years it has made substantial investments in all of the country’s finest terroirs. Since 1902, Tommasi Family Estates has signified commitment, investments and dedication, always with an eye towards the future. This has included projects for extending or renovating the company’s facilities; the estate in the Etna area that is ready to be launched next year; and the spirit to innovate and try out new collaborations and means of expression in order to win new segments of the market.
As Pierangelo Tommasi says: «We are thrilled to be part of the generation celebrating this 120th anniversary. If we look back, we can see so much hard work, passion and sacrifice on the part of those who came before us: it is an honor and a responsibility for us today to be part of all this. We are committed to not stopping here and to maintaining the dynamism that has been one of our characteristics over the years. We want the Tommasi family to be increasingly synonymous with excellence. We have invested in regions that are real icons in the world of Italian wine production: long-term projects that bear witness to our determination to construct a future for the coming generations. This is the pragmatic and far-sighted “farmers’” approach that has always been – and always will be – part of our DNA: investing in quality, winemaking culture and research, so that we can grow in a healthy and resilient way».
«If we close our eyes and imagine the wine that has made its mark on our history, we cannot but think of Amarone» explains Giancarlo Tommasi, technical director for Tommasi Family Estates. «Everything we are today is the result of the dream of my great-grandfather, a farmer with a clear vision, and of his wagering on the terroir of Valpolicella Classica. Amarone has made our region one of the most famous in the world. For this reason, it was our duty to pay tribute to this particular wine which, thanks to the trust the markets have always placed in us, has allowed us to grow, make investments, and be recognized today as one of the leading players on the Italian wine scene.»
To honor this 120th anniversary, the Tommasi family is launching an exclusive collaboration with Seletti, the leading company in Italian design: a partnership, therefore, that has to do with wine and design, two different stylistic expressions of Italian craftsmanship, which are however based on common values: family, style and quality.
The result of this collaboration is the bottle for collectors of Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico D.O.C.G., with its label made entirely of porcelain and its distinctive packaging.
In this limited edition, the icon of a region’s tradition and excellence comes together with the bold and eccentric spirit of design to celebrate 120 years of love for wine and providing hospitality in the finest areas of Italy.
TOMMASI FAMILY ESTATES
A family and a group that are working for the present and future of Italian wine: Tommasi represents the history of the Valpolicella area, and more besides. With seven wine-producing estates in six Regions of Italy – Tommasi in the Veneto, Tenuta di Caseo in Lombardy, Casisano at Montalcino and Poggio al Tufo in the Tuscan Maremma, Masseria Surani in Puglia, Paternoster in Basilicata and a project in Umbria that will be ready in 2023, (as well as a partnership with La Massa in Chianti Classico) – the group’s objective is to create great wines, always highlighting the value of the individual terroir. The picture is completed by the De Buris cultural and winemaking project, linked to the terroir of Valpolicella Classica, the restoration of Villa De Buris, and the production of an Amarone Classico D.O.C. Riserva.
Four generations of pioneers, explorers, precursors and especially visionaries, attentive to the vital importance of quality in every phase of production, with respect for traditional techniques but also open to experimentation: with the unique experience and know-how they have acquired and cultivated over time, the Tommasi family aims to express the very best of each region, combining this with their dedication to sustainability and hospitality.
Their attention to offering a warm welcome is expressed at Villa Quaranta Wine Hotel & SPA in Valpolicella, the Mazzanti Hotel and Caffè Dante Bistrot in Verona, and the Poggio al Tufo Agriturismo at Pitigliano, in the Tuscan Maremma.
For Tommasi Family Estates Ho.Re.Ca. and Retail have the same incidence and each represents about 50% of the company business. Italy covers 15% of the entire turnover; Tommasi is now present in 70 markets on 5 continents, North America and Europe represent the majority with Asia and Oceania growing.
