Description

Crearo is the affirmation that exploring new expressions of a place is equally essential as upholding traditions. In 1997 during a walk through the Conca d’Oro vineyards, cousins Giancarlo and his cousins decided to break rank and ask their fathers to plant a vineyard of Cabernet Franc in the Valpolicella. What at the time seemed folly, has turned out to be a head-turning wine, more well-known internationally among the more open-minded international wine aficionados and critics than here at home. An oak-aged blend of Corvina, Cabernet Franc and Oseleta from our Cru Conca d’Oro vineyard offers a nuanced, velvety red wine with earthy, spicy aromas and flavors that gain in depth and complexity over time.

Information

Tasting Note

A brilliant, deep ruby red in color, it offers a rich bouquet of delicately herbaceous, fruity and spicy aromas, with notes of violets, ripe cherries, tobacco and vanilla. It is full-bodied on the palate, with evident but velvety tannins and a spicy tanginess which gives it excellent and attractive length.

Serving Suggestions

Ideal for accompanying meat dishes (roasts, stews and braised meats). It is also excellent with game birds and hard, mature cheeses.

Vineyard

Conca d’Oro Vineyard
Soil with a high fossil content indicate the presence of active limestone, which is thought to contribute to wine quality. This vineyard is therefore considered to be very prestigious. The presence of limestone in soil plays an essential role in enriching the fragrance, finesse and elegance of wines, helping to bring out distinctly floral aromas. It can also enhance flavors on the palate, helping the wine to maintain a sense of crisp and crunchy fruit. The wines from this vineyard tend to be long-lived and can improve significantly with aging. They also offer great structure and complexity.
