Vision
"The aim of the Tommasi family is to bring wine to Italy and the world with passion and trust. Wine is not like a fashion fad - We are interested in the value of tradition, the vineyard - to be able to tell a story of extraordinary Italian territories through their wines."

"I have an unforgettable memory of my first trip with my uncle Dario in August of 1997. I already dreamed of seeing America, and immediately felt a strong sense of responsibility toward the first export market for our winery, which began back in 1971.
We landed in Houston, with 40° C, and from there we passed two weeks touring the major cities in Texas, then on up to the wine Mecca, New York City and finished in New Jersey and Philadelphia. To be there, at our client's restaurants, seeing our bottles positioned in the market; looking into their eyes to see their conviction and approval was incredible. I always want to return home, knowing that they won't have any trouble selling our wines because they are well received, and our family name is respected.
That trip sealed my role as export manager in the company. Even if my responsibilities today have expanded, my passion for export remains as strong as that first day I set foot in the USA.
Every day we take small measured steps to position our company for future generations. It is a luxury that we can afford for healthy and sustainable growth, and the margins are enormous - there are so many unexpressed opportunities out there waiting for us.
And as a family, we are managing a crucial rite of passage and growth. Between 9 siblings and cousins, we have always had a great relationship from every point of view. There is a complicity that began in the winery courtyard, and I can honestly say that the same camaraderie exists today, imbibed with a mutual sense of responsibility and dedication. Each one of us has an obligation, and here, it takes intelligence to understand each other, to help out and to get along.

We have always respected these rules, and the last twenty-plus years have only strengthened our loyal bonds in what I can define as a truly incredible coexistence.
It is also true that we are at a milestone moment when we are transforming a "family company" to a "family at the head of a company". To manage a company of this size, we must take a big step forward and force ourselves to let go of our hands-on style. Management is not in our DNA - we're used to keeping our heads low and working hard without skipping a beat. We shouldn't be afraid of our new roles in the organization, because we will always be a family. Family is our strength, it who we are and is what makes us unique, respected and appreciated around the world."

Passion

"You can never forget the fragrant warmth that emanates from a vat in full fermentation. I remember that it was impossible to get me out of the cellar. It was always cool, and I hated the heat... and the winery simply smelled great. When my grandfather broke the cap, it was a special moment: the skins on top were mixed into the must, and suddenly I could see its violet color emerge along with the magical heat - it seemed so alive, almost human."
Relationships
"Relationships are part of our family, and that sense of rapport carries over to our customers. For me, this has always been the beginning of what is first, a personal bond. Whether a client or an agent, I need to find that personal connection before I can discuss work with them.
I've always worked in sales, but my "aha" moments have nothing to do with my job. They have to do with my family.

My first memory was when I was 12 years old, and my grandfather let me help out on the bottling line. That was the moment when I perceived my responsibility within the family for the future of our winery. The second memory is very fresh, from lockdown last March. It was a difficult moment. Many companies had shut down, but we were down to a skeleton crew: just a few family members attending to daily operations.
One week, just me and my cousins, Pierangelo and Stefano, prepared the orders for clients here and around the world. It was like being kids again when we all pitched in at the winery and helped each other out. Today, each of us is very much absorbed in our responsibilities, and this is a unique quality that is part of our success. However, I would add that it's good to know that we are also interchangeable because we grew up and grew with the company together."

"Hospitality for me means welcoming whoever is away from home, for work, celebration or vacation, with atmosphere, service and courtesy. My description might seem simplistic, but behind each word, lies a chain of infinite details to satisfy every person, in every circumstance.
I think that arriving at a phrase which encapsulates the essence of what we do is key to Villa Quaranta's success. We are a resort with a hotel, restaurant, wine bar, convention center and spa. From one vantage point, there is a choreography of maniacal precision and organization. I'd say this is the foundation of a seamless experience. On the flip side, there are the soft skills that we continue to cultivate in all of our staff, to make each person's stay a pleasure.
I couldn't talk about Villa Quaranta without speaking about wine. In every corner of the resort, you sense our family origin, and we are proud to be ambassadors for one of Verona's most important sectors. Wine is about friendship, love, a handshake over lunch, and just being together. Creating the right context for wine experiences is one of our priorities.
I began working in Villa Quaranta in 1992 almost as a pastime while I was studying at the University of Verona. I understood almost immediately that I had found my place in the family business. I love this job because every day is different for so many unpredictable reasons. Today, I am incredibly agile. I've developed flexibility, both physical and mental, to meet the daily challenges of managing the resort at 360°."

Sustainability
"Sustainability for me is this: having a deep sensitivity for each place, both for the land and for the people who collaborate with me in each estate.
The respect and trust that are created thus become the foundations of healthy growth from all points of view: ecological, social and economic."
Dedication to teamwork
"I built a talented team of trusted winemakers: Emiliano Falsini in the Tuscan estates and Fabio Mecca in the estates of Southern Italy. Each person brings different wine values and experiences that enrich our projects. We have a good rapport. They are my eyes, ears and nose.

I immediately understood that it was essential to change my approach to the territory. Since then, I have been training to detach my mind from Valpolicella and immerse myself in a new and different place. The management of the vineyard, the palate, the oenological style changes to arrive at a territorial expression of each wine."

Fabio, like me, was born in a family business. In addition to his indisputable talent, he bears those distinctive signs of someone who has lived in the vineyards and cellar since childhood. I have always admired Emiliano, he stands out for his very precise technique and for his skill in managing the vegetative cycle. With both of them, I have absolute confidence that they will treat the grapes with silk gloves."

“I have a vivid memory of the first time I met Dario, Giancarlo and Pierangelo in the Paternoster vineyards.
The best moment was when I saw Dario Tommasi eat figs off the trees with childlike happiness. Just then, I knew that I was dealing with the professional and straightforward people I could work alongside in positive collaboration."
