A Christmas menu at high altitude: Air Dolomiti & Tommasi Family Estates join forces for a voyage through the flavors of Italy
Select produce, tradition and creativity: these are the ingredients for an unforgettable gastronomic experience, accompanied by the Tommasi family’s finest wines
Air Dolomiti, the Italian airline in the Lufthansa group, is getting ready for Christmas: from 19th December 2019 to 6th January 2020, its business class passengers will be able to savor a special Christmas menu, created together with Tommasi Family Estates, which celebrates the authentic Italian tradition and the atmosphere of the festive season. Air Dolomiti thus further reinforces its partnership with Tommasi, which is already its Official Winery for 2019.
Air Dolomiti and Tommasi share a concern for the care of their clients and the promotion of authentic regional identity. This new voyage through the country’s food and wines has been devised to offer travelers a culinary experience whose quality is in line with the Company’s high standards.
Today, Tommasi represents not only wine, but also top-class restaurants: Ristorante Borgo Antico at the Villa Quaranta Wine Hotel & Spa, and the Caffè Dante Bistrot, in the heart of Verona. Chefs Emanuele Selvi and Alessandro Bozza have come up with a menu together based on inviting food and wine pairings and genuine flavors: a gastronomic itinerary in which the ingredients, tradition and unquestionable creativity will allow passengers to enjoy a unique experience.
The menu envisages a course for every moment of the day: for breakfast, Torta Russa, a typical specialty of Verona with a delicious filling of almonds and amaretto cookies; and for lunch, roast stuffed rabbit, braised Veronese radicchio and a Valpolicella wine sauce, a tasty and unusual delicacy. For an afternoon snack, there is a zabaglione Bavarian cream with Cologna Veneta nougat and a heart of coffee. Lastly, for dinner, the dish is Lucanica sausage cooked in Ripasso wine on turmeric-flavored Jerusalem artichoke cream with crispy Parmesan half spheres and candied ginger: a perfect combination enhanced by the oriental spices. Also, for lunch and dinner on selected routes, rosemary-scented cheese sbrisolona (crumble) will be available.
Accompanying these dishes will be the Rosé version of Caseo Pinot Nero, the 100% Falanghina-based Paternoster Vulcanico and the elegant Tommasi Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore D.O.C.. These exclusive selections will make the flight particularly festive and special during the holiday period.
Air Dolomiti’s passengers have shown great appreciation for the partnership with Tommasi: from January of this year until now they have in fact bought around 30,000 bottles of the wines from the Tommasi Family Estates that have been selected for the “Winery of the Year” program : Casisano Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C., Tommasi Le Fornaci Lugana D.O.C. and Caseo Pinot Nero Brut.
