Le Fornaci Lugana Riserva doc 2019 is finally available.
After the successful launch of the 2018 vintage, Le Fornaci Lugana Riserva doc 2019 was still made with a limited production: only 10,776 bottles reserved for the best restaurants, wine bars and customers.
The 2019 vintage has recorded low temperatures, combined with the high temperature ranges, that allowed an excellent ripening and good acidity of the grapes. A very positive year. The 2019 grape harvest began one week later (second half of September) compared to the average. It can be said that the best conditions have been created for the production of Lugana with a more intense aromatic expression and greater flavor than the previous year.
Le Fornaci Lugana doc Riserva is a great white, which partially ages in wood, thus acquiring structure and complexity and enhancing the potential of the Turbiana grape in purity. A great white wine that is also good to resting in bottle and being aged.
The grapes come from the Le Fornaci estate vineyard in Sirmione, the beating heart of the Lugana denomination, custodian of the more “lacustrine” and mineral style of Lugana. Here the soils are more leathery and give few clusters, but of great richness and concentration, perfect for making a white destined to represent the qualitative peak of production, and to be produced only in the best vintages.
After the harvest by hand and the selection of the best bunches, the delicate and soft pressing of the whole bunch takes place. The vinification protocol is very rigorous: fermentation of 25% of the must in 500 Hl French wooden barrels and 75% in steel both for 18 months. This is followed by the blend of the two musts, bottling and bottle rest for 6 months
Le Fornaci Lugana doc Riserva is Tommasi best expression of the Turbiana grape in the sign of richness and complexity.
A label suitable for those who love structured and deep whites. The color is light yellow with bright golden reflections. The rich bouquet harmonizes the fresh and mineral notes with those of ripe yellow fruit and the rich aroma combines floral and citrus scents with delicate honey notes with an elegant aftertaste of vanilla and nuts. On the palate it is wide, with mature and articulated aromatic richness, which ends on fresh and savory notes. It has a long enveloping, intriguing and persistent finish with a marked acidity and a well-balanced structure.
It is an important bottle that enhances the typical flavors of Lake Garda: a toasted bread soaked with a few drops of EVO oil and scented with grated lemon peel, basil leaves and some olives.
Its rich aroma suggests pairing not only with lake fish, but also with pasta dishes, medium-aged cheeses, but also with meat main courses.
