The Tommasi family is celebrating the 2010 vintage of De Buris Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG Riserva  with the innovative #TheWineRecord project: the first concept album in which wine becomes music.
The eight tracks of which it is composed combine the sounds of the various phases of wine production with a translation into sounds of the meteorological data of the 2010 vintage, creating unusual and previously unheard sonorities.

De Buris is the luxury of Time. Time is in fact the central concept around which the cultural and enological project of the fourth generation of the Tommasi family revolves: a family which, while respecting tradition, has created an Amarone Riserva that aims to be the most contemporary interpretation of the region it represents, Valpolicella Classica.

The passing of time that accompanies the production cycle of a wine, with its colors, aromas and taste that mingle in artistic equilibrium, has become the score of an original enological and musical work: De Buris Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG Riserva 2010, an iconic wine that defines a new interpretation of the Valpolicella zone.

«De Buris represents the maximum potential that a single vineyard and a terroir, unique in its extraordinary qualities, can express in a wine», comments Giancarlo Tommasi, enologist of Tommasi Family Estates. «I like to think, with satisfaction and pride, that the 2010 vintage contains the essence of the Valpolicella area: De Buris represents the contemporary reinterpretation of our traditions, of our ancestors’ techniques of production, and, at the same time, the elegance and harmony of an artefact: in other words, the beauty of art. For this reason, we have decided to present it through a language that is as unusual for a wine as it is appropriate for describing its peculiarities: music. The Wine Record is art. It is the tale of the production cycle of wine as it has never been told before. A wine is color, aroma, taste and emotion, but it is also sound, movement and harmony, which Giacomo Ceschi, a Veronese artist and sound designer, has succeeded in translating into a unique and original musical collection».

The Wine Record – a concept album

  1. THE KEY – The De Buris parcel of the La Groletta vineyard, the terroir where everything begins in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, with its unique characteristics that allows you to produce a great wine.
  2. THE PAUSE – Appassimento (the drying phase) is a rest that lasts 110 days after the harvest: a delicate interval, a real whisper that gives you time to catch your breath.
  3. THE COMPOSITION – Vinification: the drying of the grapes is followed by pressing, a brief phase of cryomaceration and then fermentation, which takes place in oak vats, in an adagio lasting 30 days.
  4. THE ACCENT – Maturation in barrel is a sojourn that lasts for five years, in the silence of the oak casks in the cellar of Villa De Buris, the oldest property in Valpolicella Classica, where the wine is left alone for its essential harmony to evolve.
  5. THE RHYTHM – Bottling is a moment of urgency and excitement, during which the winery becomes a spellbinding choreography and rhythm is the protagonist, with the clinking of the bottles and the cadenced movements of the machinery that beat the time of the wine’s dance.
  6. THE CRESCENDO – Bottle-aging: this period of maturation distributes the wine’s notes, allowing the harmony that has been created over time to settle, and Villa De Buris hosts and protects the bottles of De Buris as they complete their evolution.
  7. THE CHORD – Food pairing: De Buris is now ready; the fine-tuning of the harmonics is essential, whether your pairing is based on contrast or on agreement, and it calls for company that will enjoy the experience to the full.
  8. THE SOLO – Tasting is the abandonment of the senses to the relaxed meditation that a great wine inspires.

The Wine Record is the work of Giacomo Ceschi, artist and sound designer.
